Kevin S. McClatchy, whose family has owned newspaper giant McClatchy Co. for 163 years, built the secluded mansion in Ligonier, Pennsylvania
Newspaper scion Kevin S. McClatchy will send his bucolic 63-acre estate outside Pittsburgh to the auction block next Thursday.
The expansive rural house near Pittsburgh suburb Ligonier, Pennsylvania, was previously listed for $4.25 million, but will head to auction next week without reserve, according to Platinum Luxury Auctions, which is handling the sale. The live auction will host qualified bidders in person at the property and remotely, said Trayor Lesnock, founder and president of the auction company.
Mr. McClatchy, 57, bought an initial 30-plus acre tract in the early 2000s for more than $500,000, according to county property records, and built a contemporary mansion with a rustic log cabin vibe.
