Following four consecutive luxury auction® sales in upstate New York’s Adirondacks region, luxury real estate auction house Platinum Luxury Auctions will now offer another, multimillion-dollar lakefront property for sale at auction on Saturday, August 14. Camp Limberlost, a multi-structure retreat occupying 14 acres on Upper Saint Regis Lake, will now be sold to the highest bidder in a live auction held without reserve. The property previously asked $10.2 million. Platinum was retained by the property owner to handle the sale in cooperation with listing brokerage Engel & Völkers Lake Placid Real Estate, led by listing agent Colleen Holmes.
The exclusive lake community, home to approximately 50 properties, boasts a unique history. Members of some of America’s most prominent families – such as Marjorie Merriweather Post (daughter of C. W. Post, founder of General Foods) – established camps at the lake in the early 1900’s. These influential residents welcomed to the lake nearly every sitting U.S. President since the 1950’s. Upper St. Regis has also hosted U.S. Supreme Court justices and Secretaries of State, foreign dignitaries such as Tony Blair and Mikhail Gorbachev, and famous artists such as Winslow Homer.
