Details &
Description

Set within the prestigious and storied Farmington Country Club community, this timeless Virginia estate offers an exceptional blend of historic charm and modern refinement. Sited on 6.68 acres of manicured grounds and mature trees, the residence was thoughtfully expanded in 2007 by noted architect Baird Snyder. From its classically inspired exterior to its finely appointed interior spaces, the home is generous in scale and meticulously maintained. Upon arrival, residents and guests are greeted by a paved drive that winds through towering greenery and opens to an expansive motor court, creating a stately first impression.

Inside, an inviting living room with a fireplace and coffered ceiling flows into a sunroom bathed in natural light. The chef’s kitchen is outfitted with high-end appliances, custom cabinetry, and a walk-in pantry, and opens seamlessly to both the formal dining room and a spacious family room—each offering access to a stunning screened porch that frames views of the lush landscape. The main-level primary suite features a large walk-in closet and a spa-like bath with a soaking tub, while three additional bedrooms are located upstairs. The fully finished lower terrace level includes two more guest bedrooms, a kitchenette, and several versatile spaces ideal for a media room, fitness studio or home office.

Additional features include an elevator, three fireplaces, a whole-house generator, five-zone HVAC, and a two-car garage with a dedicated golf cart bay—perfect for enjoying the Club’s award-winning 27-hole golf course. Other Farmington amenities include tennis, paddle tennis, a pool, fitness center, spa services, fine dining, and a historic clubhouse, which Thomas Jefferson himself sketched plans for. With refined interiors, exceptional craftsmanship, and privacy preserved by mature boxwoods and centuries-old trees, this estate is a standout in Albemarle County.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. Named after the British Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Charlottesville is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Combined with the county of Albemarle for statistical purposes, the population is approximately 150,000, and those residents enjoy recreational, historical and cultural attractions that belie the relatively small size of the city itself. Nearby Shenandoah National Park, with its rolling mountains and hiking trails, is only one of the local places from which to enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains – scenic drives, perennial streams, and waterfalls up to 93 feet high make this portion of central Virginia a uniquely beautiful place to live.

Charlottesville was home to two Presidents, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe, who lived in the city and traveled to the capital of Richmond during their tenures as Governors of Virginia. Jefferson left his mark on the country not just through service, but also through the creation of the University of Virginia (one of the original “public Ivies”) and the construction of Monticello, his estate just three miles south of Charlottesville. In addition to these two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, “C-Ville” – as it is affectionately called – has seven breweries in its vicinity, and wine tours, hot air ballooning and an indie music scene that launched the Dave Matthews Band provide entertainment to residents year-round.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA. Created in 1744 from the western portion of Goochland County, Albemarle County was subdivided in 1761 and 1777 to form separate counties around the independent city of Charlottesville (which, due to a local law, is legally and politically independent of any county). With the south fork of the Rivanna river, a tributary of the James, providing transportation between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chesapeake Bay, Albemarle County became a commercial hub housing businesses like the Union Mills and Charlottesville Woolen Mills that used the river to transport goods to Richmond and beyond.

Now, the formerly industrial riverfront is home to the Rivanna Trail, a 20-mile greenbelt that circles the city of Charlottesville, and local jobs have transitioned from manufacturing to higher education, healthcare and national defense. Top employers in the county include the University of Virginia, the County of Albemarle, Sentara Healthcare, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance and the Department of Defense – in fact, 36% of workers in the county are employed by the government on the federal, state or local level.
